Why do young Muslims need help?

The truth is, young Muslims have it harder than ever. They are constantly being challenged on their beliefs, values, and identities, and the list goes on…

When they do try to seek help, they are met with long waitlists from mainstream services or often work with practitioners who do not understand their cultural or religious needs.

As a result, they may feel misunderstood and discouraged from seeking further support.

That’s where we come in!

Muslim Youth Helpline operates as a free, national listening service to provide support to young Muslims. Our values mean we are:

  • Non-judgmental
  • Non-directional
  • Empowering

We want to give young people the tools and encouragement to improve how they feel or their situation, no matter what it may be.

How are we tackling this problem?

  • We provide a free helpline available nationally.
  • A safe space for young people to share their problems without fear of being judged.
  • We point them in the right direction.
  • We specialise in working with Muslim youth.
  • And we do all this for free!

Case Study

Imran was sexually assaulted when he was 6 years old.

He didn’t tell anyone at the time, mostly because he did not understand what was happening to him.

Imran is now 26 and getting ready to marry a girl he loves.

But as the marriage draws near, the trauma from his childhood is starting to creep in. He fears it could plague his marriage.

Imran reached out to MYH because he didn’t know who else to turn to for help.
